Currency Guide - Runex (2024)

Introduction

Coins, often called GP, and Platinum Tokens, often called Plats, are the main forms of currency available on Runex. All other currency in Runex tends to be used in it's own location, be that a minigame or exclusive custom content such as Rune Coins. This page is intended to help new players understand all of the different currencies available and where they can be used and obtained.

Regular Currency

"Regular" Currency in Runex would be defined as currencies that are obtainable in mass from multiple different activities.

This type of currency is often the most commonly used whether that be for trading, gambling, and staking with other players or purchasing items from NPCs. Because of this, you will usually encounter these currencies the most and should be the most familiar with them as a result.

These perks range from simple things such as increasing the amount of gold bosses drop all the way up to the ability to unlocked instanced slayer and even drop rate increases.

Special Currency

"Special" Currency in Runex would be defined as currencies that are more valuable and harder to come by.

This type of currency is often used in specific shops, such as Wanderer's Tokens at the Wandering Merchant, and are used to purchase some of the most powerful equipment and items in Runex. Majority, if not all, of these currencies would be considered mid-to-late game content and can be more difficult for beginners to understand fully because of it.

Wanderer's Tokens

Wanderer's Tokens can be obtained by turning in many different, random items and gear you come across during your gameplay.

To do this you'll speak to the Wandering Merchant found just outside the::shops teleport.

The Wandering Merchant is a weekly activity that requires you to sacrifice items in exchange for these Wanderer Tokens.

Some of the most powerful equipment in-game can be found within his store, but not without an often steep cost.

Rune Diamonds

Rune Diamonds are a very rare fusion of currencies made up of 100x Rune Coins and 1x Mystery Shard per Diamond.

Rune Diamonds are used to purchase cosmetic upgrades to your account including custom yell colors, various overrides, and the Lucky Fairy Mini-Pet that provides +5% drop rate.

Ancient Shards

Ancient Shards are used for many things, some of which include item enchantments, creating Arclight, creating God rings and accessing one of Runex's end-game dungeons -- the Sacred Dungeon.

You can obtain Ancient Shards by killing Ancient Titans in the Max Guild basement or by killing the Skotizo boss.

To fight the boss, you need to have 75 achievements completed.

Ecumenical Shards are obtained in the (non-instanced) Elite God Wars dungeon from killing both general trash mobs and the bosses themselves.

Ecumenical Shards are used to spawn Elite God Wars Bosses in POH boss instances.

Seasonal Currency

"Seasonal" Currency in Runex would be defined as currencies that are only obtainable during seasonal events.

Due to the frequency of seasonal events on Runex, I have decided not to include all of them here. There are dozens of seasonal currencies available on Runex and often times, they are simply named after the event itself such as Summer Tokens. If the seasonal currency is an older variant, this will normally be identified with an "(old)" tag or the year of the event itself, such as "Summer Tokens (2017)" or something similar.
