Farm Rio Sizing
Understanding Farm Rio’s Sizing
Farm Rio sizing is pretty standard, typically ranging from XXS to XL and covering a broad spectrum of body types. However, their sizing does vary slightly depending on the item’s style, cut and fabric.
To make things a little easier, Farm Rio provides a detailed size chart on their website, offering measurements for each size category. Take the time to measure yourself accurately and compare your dimensions with the chart to find your ideal fit.
Tips for Selecting the Right Size
- Measure Yourself: Before placing an order, take accurate measurements of your bust, waist, and hips. Comparing these measurements with Farm Rio’s size chart will help you determine which size suits you best.
- Consider the Style: Different clothing styles fit differently on various body shapes. If you prefer a looser fit, you might want to size up. For more tailored pieces, sticking to your usual size could be the best option.
- Keep in Mind Fabric Types: Certain fabrics have more stretch or drape than others, which can affect how a garment fits. Pay attention to the fabric composition mentioned in the product description.
My Typical Farm Rio Sizing
I am typically a size 2-4/size small in dresses right now, and that is usually the case for Farm Rio dresses too. That being said, for more billowy styles, I’d typically size down to an XS with other brands, but not Farm Rio. I am also 5’2″ so keep that in mind when checking out the longer styles on me!

Farm Rio Beach Vibe Mini Dress – Runs true to size/a little small in hips
Oh my goodness, I LOVE THIS DRESS! I’ve been eyeing this one for a while, so when there was a discount a few weeks ago, I snagged it real fast. I got a size small because, even though they sleeves are very voluminous, I had a feeling the rest of the dress fit slimmer with little stretch – and I was right!
This dress is made of 55% linen and 45% viscose. I’m a sucker for linen and I love how lightweight and summery this feels despite having long sleeves. Obsessed.
It’s also marked down to $100 for the Farm Rio dress sale! Get itttt!

Farm Rio Sweet Rio Puff Sleeve Mini Dress – Runs True to Size
I swooned over this puff sleeve mini dress last year, so when they made it again in this blue print, I knew I needed to try it. I went with a size small and it’s a little blousy on me, but I wanted it to fit that way. I also worry that an XS might have been too tight around my hips.
It’s made of 60% cotton and 40% viscose, so it’s pretty lightweight and machine washable – but I wouldn’t say there’s much stretch.
I had a few people warn me that the belt slides and doesn’t stay put because the buckle is heavy – but so far, it seems like it fits me well! If I notice it sliding with more wear, I think I could add some pins or take it to a tailor to add a snap or two though.
Also available on sale here! I loooove this fall/winter version too!

Farm Rio Mixed Fruits Paradise Midi Dress – Runs a little big
This dress is a great example of how Farm Rio sizing can be a little tricky sometimes. I got a size small and the zipper at the bodice fit me pretty perfectly – but the skirt had a ton of extra room that I didn’t need.
That being said, it’s so fun to twirl in, that it might be worth overlooking that extra fabric! This is made of 100% cotton, flirty tie shoulders with beaded tassels, and a super vibrant fruit print.

Farm Rio Blue Pineapple Love Organic Cotton Maxi Dress – Runs big
I sized down to an XS in this dress because it looked a little big on the model, and even still, it overwhelmed me., Honestly, I think I’m just too short for it!
This definitely didn’t come down to the floor on their site, but it is a FULL maxi on me. Don’t get me wrong, it’s beautiful – but it felt like something I’d wear to a very fancy beach wedding instead of an easy vacation dress. But that’s also because I’m only 5’2″!

Farm Rio Lilac Mango Macaws Maxi Dress – Runs small
When I saw this dress in store a while back, I gasped and HAD to try it on. Unfortunately they only had an XS and it wouldn’t zip up all the way… but wow she is PRETTY.
It is made of 60% cotton and 40% viscose, and there isn’t any smocking in the back. Hence why I couldn’t make the XS work.
But it is on MAJOR sale right now for just $132, so if you are in need of a tropical wedding guest dress, this is IT! I’d just size up to be safe!
