The CED Individual Major is undergoing a significant curriculum revision andwill not be available for declaration after October 1, 2019.

Current UC Berkeley students who meet the following requirements are eligible to apply to change into the College of Environmental Design to pursue a major in Landscape Architecture, Sustainable Environmental Design, or Urban Studies by submitting CED’s Change of College petition.
To be eligible for consideration, applicants must have the following:
- Have completed at least one semester of coursework at UC Berkeley.
- Have completed or be enrolled in the required lower-division courses outlined in the Change of College petition for your desired major.
- Are able to complete your degree within CED’s semester limit (four semesters for transfer students and eight for first-year admits; students pursuing simultaneous degrees are granted one additional semester).
- Have earned a cumulative GPA of 2.0.
There is no guarantee of acceptance to any CED major. It is recommended all students have an alternative major planned.
Petitions below must be submitted by the application deadline as specified on the petition. Students who submit their application by the deadline, should expect to be notified of the decision within 2-3 weeks.

Note: CED does not allow double majors (completion of two majors within CED).
Simultaneous Degrees
Current UC Berkeley students interested in completing a Simultaneous degree with CED, should follow the instructions below.
- Obtain the Simultaneous Degrees petition for your intended CED major and follow all instructions on the petition. You will not be considered for a simultaneous degree with CED unless you submit CED’s Addendum pages as specified in the Simultaneous degrees petition.

- Complete and submit the petition to your home college for review and approval. Once your home college has approved, follow the instructions to submit the petition to CED by the stated applicable deadline.
