It also has a weirdly dark central premise to provide jeopardy, which could probably have been engineered in a different way. A very starry voice cast isn't used as well as it could be, and it shoots for an Inside Out style emotional depth, but it doesn't get anywhere close to it, ending instead with an idea that's typically saccharine and twee. Anna Kendrick is enjoying herself in the lead role, and Justin Timberlake is a decent choice, but the script doesn't give anything like enough to most of the cast to do what they can. Sometimes i think so many reviewers feel they must pan movies as they don't relay various critical standards.. However, this one isn't one. i like many types of movies and this is one of them. a purely fun and colorful take on things. enjoy it for what it is and don't over think it! not all movies need that. it is great for kids and adults if you look at it as being simply fun! i am well over 21 and liked it very much!
